National Minorities and Global Crises

Since 2015, a series of high-impact global crises has sent shockwaves across Europe. From the so-called migrant crisis through Covid-19 pandemic and war in Ukraine, national minorities have, like their majority counterparts, seen considerable changes to lives lifestyles as result measures taken by executives host countries. It is possible that significant border control increased importance nation-state action times have affected ways which understand themselves vis-à-vis kin-states. By reviewing recent media comments academic research, this article hypothesises these international pushed away from local identities towards more European discourses.
